Get to Know the 2022 Winners of the Mary Y. Bridgers Early Childhood Teacher Award

On Friday, March 18, CCSA recognized the impact of early childhood educators, public servants and advocates on young children and their families at the 2022 Triangle Child Care Awards in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Mary Y. Bridgers Early Childhood Teacher Award winners were LaTida Adams from A Brilliant Beginning Daycare, a family child care home in Durham, and Michelle Tuttle from Estes Children’s Cottage in Chapel Hill.

Black History Month and Early Childhood Educators

In celebration of Black History Month, it is essential to lift up the important work every day of the early childhood workforce, a majority of which in North Carolina are individuals of color. In fact, in North Carolina, nearly three-quarters (73%) of family child care providers are individuals of color. And, to be fully transparent, about 99% of the early education workforce are women.
