“Both WAGE$ and AWARD$ Plus are helping to alleviate the financial burden that we have faced, and I would like to see WAGE$ funded in every county because Guilford doesn’t have access to WAGE$. We all need a chance to succeed.”
Awarded child care programs share the impact of the grant first-hand: “…The timing [of the CCSA COVID-19 Relief Fund] was perfect. It came at a point in time where there was a lot of uncertainty and a lot of demand for us to stay open, but we didn’t know what that was supposed to look like and we weren’t getting a lot of guidance.”
Child care is the workforce behind the workforce, yet the market is failing. The Child Care WAGE$® program is a common sense solution to a market failure. North Carolina’s economic recovery depends on it.
We, CCSA’s Board of Directors, are writing at this time to convey our concerns about SB570, the Hold Harmless Star Ratings bill.
There is a direct relationship between the education of the early childhood workforce and the ability to support and promote healthy child development, which includes all of the building blocks for later learning-to-read readiness. North Carolinian children need teachers with early childhood education to help them learn. Just say no to SB570.
